Changing The Look Of Your Car Without The Expense Of Painting It

by Genesis Williamson

Changing your car's look and feel is a great wait to refresh things and make it feel new again. If painting the car is not within your budget, you might want to consider having the car wrapped with a vinyl wrap that will give it a new look and protect the paint from damage.

Wrapping Your Car

If a vinyl wrap appeals to you, you may want to take your car to a shop that can do a car vinyl wrap for you, and have them look over the vehicle. If the car's body is in good shape, applying a wrap over it can seal the original paint and protect it from damage.

A trained technician can put on the vinyl wrap quickly with no sanding, no body filler, and when you are tired of the color, you can take it off and go back to the original color of the car. The wrap comes off very quickly when you are ready, and it will not damage the paint underneath if it was correctly applied.

The installer can customize car wrap material and add printing to it, allowing you to add things like stickers or decals to the body, but they are printed on the vinyl instead of stuck on the car. Stripes and designs are also possible, and the time it takes to apply the wrap to the car is often far shorter than the time it takes to prep and paint a car.

Colors and Textures

Car vinyl wrap comes in many different colors and can be textured or smooth. The color combinations available allow you to choose just about any color you want, even if the car never came in that color. A shiny gold car might be your thing, or maybe a matte black color for your old school hot rod would be more your style.

In either case, vinyl is available to make both of those cars possible.

Cost of Wraps

If you are looking for a process that saves you some money, vinyl wraps are relatively low cost compared to a custom paint job. The average starting price for a car vinyl wrap is around two thousand dollars and can run as much as five thousand for a truck or SUV.

The cost can change based on the material used and the amount of detail added to the wrap. If you have a small car and are using a primary color on the vehicle, the cost will be near that starting point, but the flashier or more expensive the vinyl is, the higher the cost to wrap the car will be. Talk to the wrap tech, and they can give you an estimate for wrapping your vehicle.
